The Post Ranch Inn is easily the most spectacular wedding venue on the California Coast. Located in the heart of Big Sur, the Ranch is unfortunately off limits to everyone except guests. Many of the biggest celebrities and creatives on the planet fly into Monterey, make the quick drive down to the Post Ranch and rent one of the spectacular houses on property. The Cooper House is one such house – The Post House and The South Coast House are also freestanding houses on the ranch. Millions of people drive right by on California Highway 1 & have absolutely no idea what lies behind a small sign with an unassuming guard gate. To ensure maximum privacy for guests, and celebrities who visit regularly, you have to be a guest of the Inn to access any of the grounds. Fortunately for me, I have been photographing weddings, elopements & proposals at the Post Ranch Inn for 5 years. In doing so I have seen nearly every room, every house (there are 3) & nearly every inch of the property – well, I haven’t seen the inside of the maintenance shed:)
I was just there last week chatting with a guest while waiting for my clients. The Inn was full. The gentlemen said to me, “It’s funny, they said this place is full to capacity but it really feels like were the only ones here.” He said that right!
A recent travel review summed it up like this….”The 39-room Post Ranch Inn is one of the most beautiful hotels in the United States — if not the entire world — and offers a romantic, intimate stay amid gorgeous natural surroundings. The hotel is built into the cliffs of Big Sur, and the organic architecture is breathtaking, seeming to grow out of the ground beside the hotel’s surrounding redwoods.”
Recently, a little birdie told me that the Inn is interested in hosting small weddings at The Cooper house.
